I have a young family and my leisure time is somewhat limited! However, I have a real passion for history and when I can I enjoy watching programmes and reading books about history, as well as visiting historic places – an easy thing to do in the UK where there is so much choice!

We’ve turned two! How time has flown since we opened our doors in 2017. To mark the occasion, we celebrated our second birthday by launching a quirky game of Drag Queen Bingo, alongside an extravagant party to mark the occasion.

We welcomed hundreds of guests to celebrate our birthday on Saturday 26 January to mark a second successful year in business in Leeds.

The afternoon saw hundreds of people in attendance as they enjoyed the new game which will run every few weeks with traditional bingo being held every week from 12th February. The birthday celebrations were followed with a complimentary buffet and an evening of entertainment and live music from the showgirls of Viaduct, music from Lucinda Vamp and DJ Danny.

The event also welcomed VIP guests to enjoy canapes and fizz whilst hearing from Victoria Gate Casino’s managing director, Patrick Noakes, who taught guests how to play roulette.

The birthday event was promoted via a Drag Queen themed treasure hunt across Leeds City Centre on Thursday 24 January, which saw participants following clues on social media to find one of 6 drag queens to win prizes, including one cash prize worth £250.

The treasure hunt, which used the hashtag #VGCDragQueenBingo, created a buzz across the city, with members of the public running between the locations to complete their bingo cards.

Since opening in January 2017, we’re proud to have earned the reputation as the super casino of the north, becoming the ultimate entertainment venue, with three floors of bars, dining and gaming opportunities. The casino has the most extensive selection of slots and electronic gaming in the north of England and features a dedicated poker room and live betting experience.

We offer guests the chance to relax in two bars, Curve, and Live bar, and feature the biggest sports screen in Leeds. V Restaurant offers a luxury dining experience, serving high-quality dishes to customers daily.

Patrick Noakes, Managing Director of Victoria Gate Casino commented:

“In-keeping with our mission to create the ultimate entertainment venue in Leeds, it was fitting to have celebrated another birthday in style and it was great to welcome so many guests into the casino to toast to another successful year in business. The addition of bingo compliments our gaming offering with occasional Drag Queen Bingo providing another level of entertainment.

We have a range of further exciting events coming up this year and we look forward to building on a fantastic two years with continued success and growth in 2019.”

We’re pleased to announce that we’re geared up to mark our second birthday with the launch of a quirky new game of bingo and a public-facing treasure hunt.

Join us on Thursday 24th of January, as we and our PR and event partners kick off our second birthday celebrations by hosting a drag queen bingo-themed treasure hunt across the city centre.

Warming up the citizens of Leeds ahead of its official birthday party two days later, the stunt will see participants invited to take part in a unique treasure hunt.

Following the success of a golden ticket treasure hunt for our first birthday in 2018, this year will feature five drag queens hidden in various locations around Leeds city centre between 12pm and 2pm. Clues on the locations of the drag queens will be posted across Victoria Gate Casino’s social media channels on the day and you can track #VGCDragQueenBingo too.

10 lucky participants to complete the activity will win prizes including a meal for two voucher in the casino’s glamourous V restaurant, a shopping voucher to spend in Victoria Gate, bottles of champagne, wine and one lucky winner will be awarded a main cash prize worth hundreds of pounds!

We have also arranged for a drag queen to feature in a globe filled with bingo balls on Briggate, interacting and engaging with local shoppers. The hostess, alongside promotional staff, will be informing the public about the ongoing event as well as handing out invites to our birthday party on Saturday 26th January at the casino. Winners of Drag Queen Bingo played on Thursday will be announced as part of our birthday party on Saturday 26th January at 8.45pm.

We plan to hold regular games of traditional bingo as well as a few Drag Queen Bingos throughout the year. What better time to launch the quirky game than at our birthday? This Saturday will therefore see Drag Queen Bingo played in the lower poker area of the casino from 1pm with a fizz reception to welcome guests from 12pm. Entertainment will continue throughout the Saturday with a birthday buffet at 4pm before the celebrations move to Victoria Gate Casino’s Live Bar from 8pm for live entertainment from the Viaduct show team and musician Lucinda Vamp.

Patrick Noakes, managing director of Victoria Gate Casino commented:

“We are delighted to be celebrating our second birthday and toasting to what has been another great year in business for the casino. From our home in the city centre we have welcomed thousands of gamers, diners and people seeking a great night out. We look forward to our continued success over 2019 and building our reputation as the north’s premier casino – offering an unrivalled gaming and entertainment experience.”
